It Is No Secret

"The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant." Psalm 25:17 "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy." Psalm 107:2

"It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others, He'll do for you.
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you,
It is no secret what God can do."

In 1949, Stuart Hamblen wrote this beautiful testimony which we still sing today. Stuart Hamblen was a hard living Hollywood personality who had a very popular daily radio program in Los Angeles in 1949. When Billy Graham
preached his famous 1949 Crusade he met Stuart Hamblen through a mutual friend and witnessed to him of faith in Christ. Hamblen was cordial but unresponsive.

The Crusade was to end after three weeks. There had been only limited outward response. Billy Graham prayed for God to show whether he should continue the meeting. He put out a "fleece." (Judges 6:36-40) That next morning at 4:30 A.M., Stuart Hamblen called in tears and asked to meet with Billy immediately. Stuart Hamblen was under conviction of his need for a Saviour.

Stuart Hamblen and Billy Graham met that very day. Stuart Hamblen and his wife came to Christ as sinners needing and receiving a Saviour.

Soon Stuart excitedly told the story of his conversion on his popular Los
Angeles radio show, and newspapers picked up the story. The Los Angeles
Graham Crusade continued and attained world wide publicity. The Crusade
catapulted Billy Graham as God's evangelist for the Twentieth Century.

Soon afterwards, his movie star friend John Wayne met Stuart Hamblen and
said, "What's this I hear about you, Stuart?" Hamblen responded, "Well,
Duke, it's no secret what God can do." "Sounds like a song," said John
Wayne. Stuart Hamblen went home and wrote this inspirational song we have
sung so often to honor our God of Love. The book Then Sings My Soul
records
this true story.

Indeed, it is no secret what God can do. But most Christians never tell
the secret to anyone. Ask God to show you that one chosen person for you
today whom needs to hear the secret of salvation in Jesus and His precious
blood. Say a good word for Jesus today. God has already gone before to
prepare a heart.

It is no secret what God can do . . . through you.

    Our Vision...

At First Baptist Clarksville we desire to know Christ through the worship of God, the teaching of the Bible, and the fellowship of believers, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we may be like Jesus Christ and make Him known to others, for the glory of God.
